Dr. Bairon A. Madrigal
Dr. Bairon A. Madrigal has always had a deep love for animals—especially the unconventional ones. Growing up surrounded by exotic pets, he developed an early fascination with species often overlooked in traditional veterinary settings. That passion grew into a calling, and today, he’s proud to dedicate his life to the care of birds, reptiles, amphibians, small mammals, and more.
A native South Floridian (and proud of it), Dr. Madrigal completed his bachelor’s degree with a double major in Biology and Marine Biology at Nova Southeastern University, followed by a master’s degree in Infectious Disease and Global Health from Tufts University. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University, where he also received a certificate in Exotics and Zoological Medicine and was mentored by the renowned Dr. James W. Carpenter.
Dr. Madrigal is the Lead Associate Veterinarian at Broward Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital, one of the highest-volume exotic specialty hospitals in South Florida. He has been part of the BAEAH family for years—starting as a veterinary assistant, then extern, and now as a practicing veterinarian. He treats a wide variety of species and has a strong focus on emergency medicine. His passion for exotic pet care is both professional and personal. Having grown up with exotic animals and now caring for many of his own, he understands the challenges of finding accessible, quality care for these unique pets. That insight drives his mission to make specialized veterinary medicine more available to all families.
When not caring for animals, Dr. Madrigal enjoys tending to his houseplants and garden, SCUBA diving, hiking with his dogs, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He shares his home with prairie dogs, axolotls, red-eyed crocodile skinks, chickens, ducks, geese, a Rose Breasted Cockatoo, and a thriving reef tank. He’s also an avid concertgoer and loves enjoying live music whenever he gets the chance. His long-term goal is to help expand the reach of exotic animal emergency care while mentoring the next generation of veterinarians.
